FRAMEWORK
Achieving Zero is a framework of integrated government (state/province and municipal) policies to phase out CO2 emissions in the built environment by 2040.
Its key implementation tools integrate building energy upgrade policies coupled with building intervention points that align with capital improvement and major renovation cycles of existing buildings, as well as zero-net-carbon building energy codes and standards that apply to all buildings. The framework is structured to deliver energy and emissions reductions, rapid expansion of local renewable energy systems, local jobs, and the development of equitable, resilient and healthy communities.
Achieving Zero
Reaching a 50-65% carbon emissions reduction in the built environment by 2030, and zero emissions by 2040, is critical if we are to successfully manage climate change. Achieving Zero is a framework and set of tools to help city and sub-national governments (state, provincial, and regional) meet this target.
